Chef James Baker, a life time restaurateur, began at the bottom of the restaurant ladder and quickly moved to top management because of his dedication to the guest. Recognizing these things, it is heartfelt that he uses his God given talent to create a catering company company that incorporates his personal beliefs and employs his passion for serving good food and making his guest satisfied.
Mtani began as a loose dream that we shared with close friends, and was originally the name of a coffee house that we were planning to open.
Unfortunately, the coffee house never came to fruition but two things remained the friendship that was created and the name Mtani. Mtani, which is friendship in Swahili, is what our catering company was founded on. We would never have stepped out on faith to turn our passion into our careers if we had not had faith in God and friends who believed in us. Over the years Mtani has added many to its family of friends and there is always room for many more!

"Mtani’s greens with bacon were such a hit at a local food lunch recently that about 15 people cleaned out a bowl intended to be enough for 30 people."Rona Roberts, Lexington Humanitarian
"Thank you for agreeing to be our caterer. The food was very good. I traded half a sandwich with a co-worker so I got to taste both the turkey wrap and the chicken salad sandwich. Delicious!"Marilyn Clark, LFUCG
